Brooks Patterson Bio

What if L. Brooks Patterson can't return to office, asks Fox 2's Charlie LeDuff.

Patterson, who remains hospitalized with serious injuries from an auto accident last Friday, must run for reelection November 6.

Kevin Howley, his Democratic challenger, told LeDuff he feels like he is running against a "phantom."

"We certainly wish L. Brooks Patterson the best during this situation," Howley said.

If Howley wants to debate, would Gerald Poisson, Patterson's deputy, be his opponent?

"I don't know," Poisson said. "I'm certainly ready to debate him if he wants to debate our record and our progress. We're thrilled to do that. We defend it and promote it all the time."
