Mateen Cleaves, a former basketball player for Michigan State University and the NBA, sat in a Flint courtroom on Tuesday and heard damaging testimony in his preliminary examination in which he's charged with raping a woman, 24, in a motel just outside the city Sept. 15, 2015.
A witness, Coleen Dowdall, who was staying at the Knights Inn on Grand Blanc Road, testified in 67th District Court before Judge Cathy Dowd that the woman was yelling: “Help me. Help me. Help me," reports Oralandar Brand-Williams of The Detroit News.
“She was just crying hysterically,” Dowdall said, adding: “She asked me to call 911. I said I’m talking to them now.”
Earlier Tuesday, Dowdall testified that she twice saw Cleaves, 39, pulling the woman back into a room that morning, around 2 a.m.,
