Justice finally came for Davontae Sanford, who served eights years for a quadruple slaying in Detroit prosecutors now say he did not commit.
On Tuesday, Wayne Circuit Judge Brian Sullivan granted a June 8 motion by prosecutors to dismiss murder charges against Sanford, who is now demanding answers to the bungled case, George Hunter writes at The Detroit News.
He was released from prison in June, but still had the conviction hanging over his head.
“Look at everything they took me through. Tried to break me. I was a liar. I was guilty. I was a murderer. They got to live with this the rest of their lives. I wasn’t the one that did it (the killings),” he says, according to the paper.
Sanford, who said he was a confused youth, said he coerced by police and his attorney into confessing to the 2007 killings he had nothing to do with.
