We all know someone in an adult sports league -- be it softball or soccer -- who took things a little too seriously.
Well, meet Bassel Abdul-Amir Saad, 36.
Fox 2 reports that he was playing in a 30-and-over soccer league at Miles Park in Livonia on Sunday and he apparently got mad when the ref was about to eject him.
So he allegedly punched the referee in the head, Fox 2 reports. The ref apparently further injured himself when he fell. .
Randy Wimbley of Fox 2 reports that Livonia Police said the referee was unconscious when officers arrived. He was taken to the hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
Saad ran off but police found him and arrested him. He was arraigned Monday on a charge of assault with intent to do great bodily harm in 16th District Court in Livonia. A $500,000 cash/surety bond was set. A preliminary examination is scheduled for July 10.
