Damond Jackson is just getting his vision back, reports WXYZ.

The DDOT bus driver was attacked by a rider last Nov. 3 of last year. The rider tossed an "unknown liquid" into his eyes and fled.

Healing has been tough, however; out of work, Jackson has fallen behind on bills, and a psych evaluation showed post traumatic stress disorder. Now he's fighting with DDOT for insurance coverage, Simon Shaykhet of WXYZ reports.

"I just got a letter this past Friday that they're terminating my benefits, as of February 2014," Jackson says. "I'm still far behind on bills, they keep piling up. Just trying to make ends meet each day, is still hard."

William Williams, vice president for the DDOT drivers union, says Jackson is receiving "S and A benefits," only part of what he should be entitled to. "S and A benefits are a partial payment," he says, "about 60% of what you would normally earn in your wages. It's designed for injuries that occurred outside of the job. His injuries should be classified as an occupational injury. He was injured while performing duties for the City of Detroit."

Jackson tells WXYZ that he has no place to stay, and has been "hopping from house to house."
