Crime knows no bounds. Still, the botched robbery and shooting at a Bloomfield Hills home is still making headlines, in good part, because of the type of crime that was committed in such an upscale neighborhood.

Jay Grossman of Gannett Michigan writes that Cassandra Chobod, who knew the victim, David Zacks, "hoped to exploit her relationship with David Zacks by scheming with her friends to rob him."

The robbery apparently went bad and one of the people, who identified himself as a cop, starting shooting through the door after Zacks refused to let him in, the news service reported. Zacks was wounded.

“They knew each other on a personal level,” Bloomfield Hills Public Safety Director David Hendrickson said. “She then came up with a plan to rob him using her friends, and the robbery attempt went bad.”

The news service reports that Chobod, 23, was one of four suspects arraigned Monday in 48th District Court. Devon Miller, 21, Henry Williams, 20, and Christopher Hernandez-Monteil, 20, were the others involved in the April 30 shooting and attempted robbery, police say.  -- Allan Lengel
