Life ain't easy for Kwame Kilpatrick these days. And he's apparently not hesitant to whine about it.
The Detroit News' Robert Snell reports that Kilpatrick recently complained to Texas prison officials about performing 16 hours of community service a month in his adopted state. He also expressed concerns he'll end up back in prison because of his added restrictions imposed in March.
Along with the community service, he's been forced to pay more for restitution per month.
"This new requirement could force me into prison," Kilpatrick wrote in one email obtained by the Detroit News through the Freedom of Information Act.
Kilpatrick is performing his unpaid community service at the Tarrant Area Food Bank in Fort Worth, Tex.
Kilpatrick also writes in an email that it's not easy being a one-car family, particularly when his wife has a new job and he delivers paid speeches and takes his kids to extracurricular activities.
And he expressed concerns about doing his community service and making money giving speeches.
"If I have 7 dates for paid speeches out of town, which forces me to be gone for nearly half the month, should I cancel a couple of them to make sure that I perform my 16 hours of 'Texas' community service?" he wrote. "I am not being sarcastic, nor facetious. I am deadly serious."
One of the few things he doesn't complain about is letting down the electorate.
