
A 4-year-old boy wounded himself in the abdomen with his grandfather’s gun Sunday night on Detroit's west side, The Detroit News reports.
The grandfather works is a security guard. The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. in the 16300 block of West Chicago.
“The grandfather (who) works security, was getting ready for work and took his firearm and put it on top of the refrigerator," Detroit Police Sgt. Cassandra Lewis says, according to the News. "He went into the basement, the 4-year-old got a chair, climbed up on the chair and got the weapon down.”
When the grandfather came upstairs, he heard a gunshot.
The grandfather was being questioned by police late Sunday night.
