The Under Armour Detroit Brand House store, which has a grand scale similar to the Nike store down the block on Woodward Ave., officially opens its doors on Thursday.

The store opening is another feather in the cap for real estate magnate and mortgage king Dan Gilbert, who owns the building occupied by both sporting good chains. Nike opened last summer.

The two-story store at 1201 Woodward Avenue includes giant video screens, attractive wood-panel walls and paintings of great athletes in the dressing rooms.

Doors open at 10 a.m. At 5 p.m., the store will host a party with music, food, beverages and live footwear customizations.
