Mayor Dave Bing picked up petitions to run for a second term, but it's still unclear what he'll do.  Darren A. Nichols reports in The Detroit News.

Nichols writes:

Bing, 69, said Thursday he's going to consult with close advisers and family members before making a final decision in a few weeks.

Bing wrote on his Twitter page:

As of now I still have not made a final decision whether to seek a second term for mayor. However, I recognize that the deadline for declaring my candidacy and filing petition signatures is drawing near. So, today I'm picking up the necessary petitions to make sure I am prepared in case I decide to make a bid for re-election.

The deadline to file petitions for city offices is May 14.
